Abstract:-
The key intermediate 3-(3-Dimethylamino- acryloyl)-4-hydroxy-6-methylpyran-2-one 1 was prepared by the condensation of dehydroacetic acid with N,N-dimethylformamide-dimethylacetal in the presence of a catalytic amount of acetic acid.
