NEUROPHARMACOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF CENTAURIUM ERYTHRAEA EXTRACT.
Abstract:-
The review of literature clearly indicates that there is a paucity of literature on the scientific studies carried out on Centaurium erythraea. Although there are several claims made about this plant there is lack of proper scientific study. This experimental study was undertaken to studysome of the neuropharmacological actions of the extract particularly on Irwin schedule, gross behavior (blind screening), locomotion, motor coordination and catalepsy. The ethanolic extract of Centaurium erythracea significantly reduced locomotion in low doses whereas at higher doses it reduces both locomotion and rearing which clearly indicates the action of the drug as dopaminergic D1/D2 antagonistor or D3 agonist at low doses. At higher doses it may have direct action on 5 HT1A receptor. The centaurium erythrae was found to reduce haloperidol induced catalepsy in higher dose which may be due to D2 agonistic effect and/or may modulate by serotonin release

Abstract:-
The determination of stability constant of Acarbose complexes with Fe(II) metal ions in temperature range 303-318 K at constant ionic strength 0.1M.in 20% ethanol-water mixture by adopting pH metric technique been studied. The thermodynamic parameters (ï„G,ï„H and ï„S) were calculated from values of stability constant at different temperatures. The formations of metal complexes were found to be spontaneous and exothermic nature.
